The Fraser River is often overlooked despite stories of big fish being caught in it. Rainbows, browns, and cutthroats have been rumored to be found here.
The Fraser River starts near Berthoud Pass and runs north for eight miles. Further north kids love fishing at the Lion's Club ponds next to Safeway.
Some of the best areas is in Fraser Canyon near Tabernash. There is also fishing in Granby Ranch for a fee.
Flyfishing:
Winter Park Flyfisher is located in the Ski Broker building in Fraser. Guided fishing trips include Wade fishing on private or public water and float fishing on the Colorado and North Platte Rivers.Trips run 4, 6 or 8 hours of actual fishing time on the water.
For planning, add 2 to 3 hours onto the trip for other events. For example, a 6 hour wade trip will probably take up a total of 8 hours.
