Fall and Spring Weather in Winter Park

Weather in Winter Park, Colorado can be unpredictable as the seasons change.  We experience four seasons here, with spring and fall often called the shoulder seasons or mud season.  Weather in the spring and fall can often produce sun mixed with rain or snow, we do get some warmer days but these days usually occur toward the end of spring and the beginnig of fall.  Shoulder season refers to the time of year that we do not have as many vistors to the Winter Park Area.  Mud season refers to the trail network and dirt roads that become muddy with the spring showers and fall rain.

Summer weather in Winter Park is just delightul with rain usually occuring in the mornings and sunshine in the afternoon and evenings.  Most days feel warm even though it might only be in the 70's.  Winter Park locals say that it is the altitude that makes it feel warm in the summer, at 10,000 feet they can't be wrong.  Be sure to pack the sunscreen and shades.  Summer nights can actually be cool, but feel pretty good after a warm day.  A sweatshirt or a light jacket are good items to have on hand with the changing weather during the summer.

Winters in Winter Park offer a myriad of weather patterns.  Temperatures range from warm days, with temperatures just below freezing complete with bright sunshine and blue skies.  Heavy cloud cover also produces warmer weather along with an abundance of snow dropping from the sky - Winter Park locals call this a "powder day!".  We sometimes experiece cooler days with temperatures in the 20's or less.
