Town of Winter Park - the town of Winter Park, located in Colorado, was founded in 1978, and was originally called Hideaway Park. Although Winter Park Colorado is just 70 miles from Denver you will feel as though you are in a different world. As soon as you turn off highway 70 and drive over Berthoud Pass, you will find that things are slower here with less traffic and friendly mountain people!
The downtown area, at first may seem smaller than other ski resort towns, but you will find that Winter Park has plenty of shops to choose from. The stores range from clothing to sporting goods, ski and snowboard, mountain bike to cross country ski shops. Winter Park also boasts jewerly shops to art galleries and gift shops. The most entrancing thing about the town of Winter Park is the beauty of it's surroundings. As you look around the town, you will note the Continental Divide to the east, the runs of Winter Park Resort to the south and Byers Peak to the north west. Winter Park Chamber of Commerce - the Winter Park Chamber of Commerce is located in the center of Winter Park and right next to Hideaway Park. Hideaway Park was named in order to honor the oriignal given name of Winter Park. The Chamber Director and staff members have worked hard to put together various activities and events for the town of Winter Park. Events and activities include summer music festivals, family fun festivals, mountain bike events, winter cross country and snowshoe events and dinners. Many of the events are held right across the street from the Chamber of Commerce building in Hideaway Park. This venue boasts an outdoor ampitheater for concerts with plenty of seating on a lush green lawn. Hideaway Park also has a large skate park with four bowls, ramps and rails, a children's outdoor playground and picnic areas. This newly developed park is the life of downtown Winter Park.
